Which Greek philosopher served as the tutor of Alexander the Great?

Aristotle was chosen by King Philip II of Macedon to educate his son, Alexander, who would later become known as Alexander the Great. Beginning around 343 B.C., Aristotle taught the young prince subjects such as philosophy, science, politics, literature, and ethics. Although Alexander eventually became one of history's greatest military conquerors, Aristotle's influence helped shape his intellectual interests and appreciation for Greek culture, which Alexander later spread throughout much of the known world during his empire-building campaigns.
